Before there were prints, there were poems. At Golbanoo Studio, every stitch begins as a line of verse — and two poets return to our cloth again and again: Saadi of Shiraz, the gardener of the Gulistan, and Omar Khayyam, the astronomer who wrote quatrains about wine, roses and the brief brightness of life.
Saadi: The Rose Garden You Can Wear
Saadi believed a story should be carried the way you carry a scent — lightly, and everywhere. His Gulistan (The Rose Garden) is a garden of tales about kindness, wit and the strange turns of fate. Our Gol collection takes its name and its spirit from that garden: vests and tops embroidered with motifs that bloom the way his sentences do. The Del pieces — del means "heart" in Persian — carry the other half of his teaching: that everything worth wearing is worn close to the heart first.
Khayyam: Quatrains in Satin and Denim
Khayyam looked at the stars and decided the only honest response was to live beautifully, now. His Rubaiyat quatrains — four lines, a whole philosophy — are embroidered across our Khayyam collection: satin tops with scarves that move like verses, a denim jacket for the road, a white vest for bright mornings. Each piece holds a fragment of his counsel: the moving finger writes, the rose blooms, the moment is yours.
Why Poets, Why Now
We embroider poets because clothing forgets nothing. A Golbanoo piece is made to order by hand in Los Angeles, stitch by stitch, so the words settle into the fabric the way they were meant to — slowly. When you wear Saadi, you carry a garden. When you wear Khayyam, you carry a toast to the present moment.
Explore the tales: the Khayyam collection, the Gol collection, and our newest chapter, the Qajar Mermaid and Qajar Songbird pieces. Every one is, as we like to say, a story to wear.
